Cloud Tangle's "Kinds of Sadness" is the unassuming and enigmatically powerful record we need for isolation

"Brisbane visual /aural artist Amber Ramsay’s (Cloud Tangle) debut album is an absolute treat. Spacey, soft, deep, reflective and meditative music. The album starts in an ethereal way...gentle, atmospheric pacing and soft vocals. Almost lyric and vocal-less. The songs roll past like a warm wave of water a la Brian Eno or Cocteau Twins. Just as you want it to continue, you are stopped and transported to another place. But knowing you want more doesn't mean it is necessarily better. The album is the perfect taster, a sonic tease! You want more sweetness, are given a taste and then find something new. Side 1 is perfectly balanced between silence and blissful soundscape. Side 2 is slightly more upbeat, more vocals, slightly popper a la Nico. But it is not bleak and sullen like Nico, but strongly confident and affirmative. There is a real force behind the silence and spaces ...a slow, rumbling mood of truth that appears like a lighthouse in a storm. This is ambient, minimalist Aussie perfection." -Spinonvinyl
